What a delight to announce the release of my first video Bible study series on DVD! Last September 7th I was riding to the Atlanta airport with one of my dear speaking sisters, and we were chatting about various ministry opportunities. I shared with her how I longed to do a Bible study series on video someday, yet couldn’t imagine how that would ever happen, since videos are very expensive to produce and require a ministry much bigger than ours to market and distribute.

As always, God was listening.

On September 10th the phone rang. “Liz, this is Dan Sampson of Sampson Resources. We’ve produced video ministry packages with Dr. Kevin Leman, John Trent, and others. We’d like to create our first women’s Bible study series, and God has put your name on our hearts. Would you be interested in pursuing such a project?”

Would I be interested?! Father God, you are too good for words!

When Dan asked me what Bible study material I had prepared, I didn’t hesitate for a second: “The stories of Jacob, Leah, and Rachel from Genesis 25 and 27-29.” I’d spent many months researching those passages of Scripture before I wrote my historical novels based on the Genesis accounts—Thorn in My Heart and Fair Is the Rose—plus I’d taught an 8-week Bible study on that same material for 1,600 women at Southeast Christian Church here in Louisville in Fall 2002. Little did I dream where all those months of preparation might lead…

On December 1, 2003 I found myself in a television studio in Dallas with 70 fabulous women, eager to study God’s Word with me!
