The Sunflower Parable begins with a young boy whistling down the lane toward home and grows into a warm, summertime story for children ages 3 to 7! Filled with colorful illustrations from the watercolor brush of artist Nancy Munger, this third book in the seasonal series that began in 1995 with The Pumpkin Patch Parable again features the wise farmer and introduces his young son Logan.

Logan is a happy, hard-working boy who is "counting the days until the summer sun shines on his very own corner of the garden." Side by side with his father the farmer, Logan plants GIANT sunflower seeds, certain his flowers will grow tall enough to reach all the way to heaven.

"Drink! Drink!" Logan calls from his window on rainy days. "Grow! Grow!" he sings out, as he rides by on his bicycle.

Soon everything in the garden is reaching for the skies. Nothing has grown taller than Logan's sunflowers! By summer's end, though, the flowers stop growing and hungry birds hop around the stalks. Logan grows sad, thinking all his hard work is good for nothing.
